This thistle stands tall and strikingly beautiful, yet appropriately armed with thorns to protect. She stands and offers grace and inspiration and loveliness while she battles the obstacles in her meadow. The setting is beautiful and there are moments of great joy, but it is her choice to remain in balance that keeps her world harmonious.

Thorns are jewelry if you take pride in being prepared to do battle. Fierceness is oh so feminine, when you embrace your inner strength. This thistle excels at doing all those things. This beauty endures. This thistle dreams and fights. This thistle feels pain and strikes back. This beauty blooms and spreads love.

I searched today for a purple weed to commemorate World Crohn’s and Colitis Day, and those who fight for a cure and who live with Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. The first annual WCCD was celebrated on May 23, 2007. This is just my simple way of standing in solidarity with those who battle these diseases.

If you’d like to find out more about Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis and the heroic efforts of the researchers, scientist, doctors and advocates who are doing all they can to find a cure, please visit: http://www.ccfa.org. Thank you.

Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.

We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
