My given name Debra, means “Queen Bee”. Ever since I was little, I’ve been unflappably brave around bees. I somehow believed that they would recognize me as a queen bee, and not sting me! So getting in close for this photo was no problem. All I needed was a quick hike, patience and a steady hand.

I am inspired by things that grow in the ground and blow in the wind. I like to play in the dirt, especially when planting something, and can talk to trees. I like to look closely at things that at first seem small, insignificant, dried out, or contrary. Weeds may not welcome me with swollen blossoms, but the visual treasure they offer up, are well worth a look. Do you agree?
