The path may be familiar, with grooves marking predictable footfalls and common steps. But if you find your path lacking in new surprises, go your way with some good company and the view will become fresh again. If you’ve ever held onto a toddler’s hand, or grasped the end of a leash, there is excitement in the little ones who are delighted just to been asked to go along. “I am up for anything!” my dog Lucky excited says. She pants her enthusiasm and unflagging devotion to my wishes. How fortunate I am (well lucky, really) that she and I are partners and that every walk to scout for weeds offers us a new chance for appreciation and inspiration.
May you walk today with a friend who helps you see the newness along your way, and who celebrates your desires. Our connection to those who see more than we can is one very beautiful thing.
