As tiny as a twinkle in the jolly old man’s eye, this itty bitty lawn weed has made a big decision. She will stand guard all night long and watch for Santa. Standing no higher than a sugarplum, she will stay very still and be as quiet as a mouse, so she does not catch Santa’s eye. Although he is aware of so very many things throughout the year, because this is his busiest night, she’s hopeful that he will be too busy tonight, to notice a wee weed spy who’s dreaming while wide awake.
The frost will come, and rain as well, then a freeze is likely. But this little weed flower is willing to believe in Santa and put it all on the line to witness the magic that occurs after midnight. In the morning I’ll come out to visit her to see if she’s decorated with ice, perhaps taking on the shape of a snowflake. A living snowflake with the heart of a weed who believes. I hope she gets her wish.
Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
