Welcome to California 2013! Welcome to Pacific Standard time, January 1, 2013 at just a touch after midnight! The new year has arrived in the land of dreams, the land of gold, of Hollywood, of “being discovered” and striking it rich, of eternal sunshine and fame and fortune. I am glad you made it, and I’m glad the world continues on, casting aside the silly superstitions and the notions that men and women may be able to decide events. If weeds tell us anything, it is that nature is in control, not us.

Please New Year, keep your head about you and do not be too dazzled by distractions to ignore the common folk. Bless all of us with growth and health, and keep safe the weeds!

I am inspired by things that grow in the ground and blow in the wind. I like to play in the dirt, especially when planting something, and can talk to trees. I like to look closely at things that at first seem small, insignificant, dried out, or contrary. Weeds may not welcome me with swollen blossoms, but the visual treasure they offer up, are well worth a look. Do you agree? I hope that these images of the oft-overlooked pest of our gardens and yards may give to you some delight, hope, or a new thought to make your daily journey just a little bit more inspired.
