At dawn today I ventured outside for a clean breath of air and a look around, eager to see what nature had to offer up. Every morning is so full of promises and opportunities and fresh open road upon which to race ahead, so I am constantly enticed to step outside. In my wanderings I saw birds soaring in the rapidly pinking sky, and a hawk who heavily raised himself into the air, leaving his latest meal on the ground. The neighbors’ horses snuffled and shook themselves awake. My slippered feet scuffed the wet grass and trees dripped the dew upon my head, waking me up in some spots more than others.
My breath hung like a mist in front of me, and I watched the day begin. This weed watched with me and it held treasured water droplets caught in its divining rod arms, revealing a reflection of the world’s dawning. At first glance the weed had little to offer, but it was opening itself up to its surroundings and thus was given a gift. And when I paid it heed, it gave that gift to me.
So thank you, dear weed. Let’s all enjoy our day and drink the goodness in!
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
