Today in sunny Southern California it was the kind of winter day that makes you want to cheer! The sun came out in golden winter goodness and shone brightly on a land freshly drenched and refreshed by rain. Nature had been scrubbed clean and was showing off. The air was chilly and clear and it contained the promise that winter would indeed continue, but first things first, it was time to take a day off from grey days. Today was a day to soak up the beauty of nature and exalt in the high blue skies, the puffy creamy clouds and the fresh greens growing all around.
These dried weed flowers withstood days of downpours and are happy to see the sun again, no matter if they are dried or not. Today they are cheerleader weed flowers and they take the time to daydream about summer and smile with the memory of hot days, while being cooled off by winters breeze as they praise the day. Ah, the delight in those two opposites.
What a blessing it is to enjoy what is in front of us and still be able to remember how it feels when the earth has turned around to give us summer. Today is the kind of day that is perfect for giving a hug to anyone who will accept it, for giving thanks for the beautiful gifts of nature, and for being aware enough to see the treasures in your corner of the world. Please, enjoy your golden Sunday.
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.

what a lovely post, and a beautiful photo to accompany it … made me want to go outside and hug the sunshine, even here in (already practically summer and in the upper 70’s) south Texas! love the “Ah, the delight in those two opposites” … yes!
Thank you so very much. Texas and California both have incredible weather – and people! I hope your day is full of joy.
