It was here he sat and held court over all on the hill. He proclaimed wise edicts that the little ones listened to with rapt attention. The crowd came from far and near to hear his words and to look upon his face. We gathered around the throne and settled in among the wet green grasses.
Time wandered away from us as we took the journey with the king who showed us the hidden paths and deeper meanings to the puzzles of our lives. Night came and the moon rose high in the sky, illuminating the knowledge that we soaked up. The dew fell and coated all with jeweled drops. Those who were thirsty took sips off the leaves. Those who were tired lay their heads down and dozed of peace and comfort.
Morning came and we stirred when the birds began to sing. The sunlight shone warmly on our disheveled selves and lit up the glistening leaves and seeds stuck to us in all the wrong places. “Do you remember last night?” we asked one another. “Yes, of course,” we said, more to ourselves than to each other. Our certainty evaporated as the sun continued to rise. One by one we left the others and moved off away from the throne.
We were no longer certain of what exactly happened last night. We were strangers to the past evening’s events and not one of us could say what we were doing in this place at all. We were lost but felt found. The throne felt exactly right, but it was not a feeling that we could put into words. It was a feeling that ruled dreams and faint memories of times half remembered.
We all felt certain though, that the truth lay within us and would become clear at the opportune time.
Faith. That is what we had. Faith that we had been in the presence of greatness. Faith that we were a part of greatness.
Let us all believe in ourselves and the wisdom that we know deep down in our souls.
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
