Rust True
Rust True

I’m gonna rust true. I’m gonna rust through. I’m gonna follow this path to where it wants to take me and then I’m gonna make my own way. I’m gonna live my life to the end and make it last as long as I can. I’m gonna make it matter.

I see something clearly now. I see my way. It may be crooked and crowded with thorny weeds, and it may be pieced together in a fashion that is not quite fashionable, but it layered with good intentions, faith and optimism. So this is clear.

I’m gonna play in the dirt and clamber over rocks. I’m gonna climb mountains and slide down embankments. I’m gonna ford rivers and swing on vines. I’m gonna make new trails in the desert, in the meadow and in the snow. I’m gonna plant trees and flowers and weeds and food. I’m gonna thank the Lord and the land beneath my feet for all its bounty. I’m gonna praise loudly to the heavens and marvel at the clouds and sun and rainbows. I’m gonna savor the breeze and dance with the twirling wind.

There are some days when my way might have been overlooked; those days when I feel like I’ve lost my drive, my forward momentum. I can feel myself slipping but then it only takes recognition and a moment of resolve for me to see that I should tear myself away from the pool of self doubt and the quagmire of despair.

I open my eyes and see. If my way has been overlooked, then it was because I was the one closing my eyes. Why the heck would I do that? Open up, silly! Open up your eyes and your mind and your heart and SEE!

When I see I can hear the message. “See the way and forge ahead. Trust yourself and your ability to carry on even in the night or fog or sand storm or pouring rain. If you cannot clear your vision, then close your eyes and let your inner self take over. You will always know the way if you choose not to overlook it.”

In this life, I say to you, “Rust true.”

Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.

We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
