On The Hunt

The pup has caught the scent, and she is off! She is after an elusive quarry, but it will never run away, for the eager pup has joined her mistress in the hunt for weeds. She is a dandy sport with nose to ground, tail a wagging and paws a scrabbling. She is a good and faithful companion, and she has caught the scent of excitement from her mistress and so has devoted herself to the cause wholeheartedly.

Without understanding why, she shares in her weed huntress’ quest for visions of freedom, wildness and tenacity. The pup sees what humans cannot. Her perspective is low to the ground and the only context she uses to understand her mission is either instinct, or her desire to please, or a combination of the two.

Her mistress is pleased and it seems the day is as well, for the setting sun spotlights the pups efforts and paints her with rainbow hues of optimism and loyalty. The hunt has been successful and the bond between the two is tighter and stronger than ever.

The prize they caught? Visions of friendship and joy.
