There’s a road I’ve got to travel today. I’d like smooth open roads and clear sailing, but I know there is no guarantee of that. I am not alone in my need to get somewhere. I’ve got a multitude of friends around me, strangers if you want to be precise… but I’d rather consider them my traffic pals. We are all in it together, all looking at the same sky, clouds, road signs, and each other. Yes, shiny one, you could try to get ahead of me and pass me by. Well it might be you’ve got a hard deadline you gotta keep. So that’s okay, I’ll let you go. It’s not for me to judge or complain or yell at you. You wouldn’t hear me anyway, as insulated as we all are in our own little bubbles! For me, it’s more about enjoying the ride than racing and not seeing.
These weed highway travelers don’t seem to be in too much a hurry. When you are a water droplet, what is the rush? Their movement is almost hard to see. I can gauge their progress best when I look away and then back again to try to spot the different positions. And lo, when the sun comes up higher in the sky, their progress will be lightning fast. They will disperse and slide down the lucky weed’s leaves to bathe the underpass dwellers living at soil level.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be. Please come back again for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like. Even better, look down at the world that teems with life and meaning. It is right at your feet!
