Windswept, dried out, sunbaked, spent. Like a ghost husk of its former self, this lookout grass weed still carries the spirit of Robber’s Roost in the Mojave Desert. It’s just missing the gumption and the innards to keep on spotting stagecoaches loaded with gold. Hope his compatriots don’t shoot him in the back for not pulling his weight.
But in a different light…
To the lucky hiker who wandered onto the Robber’s Roost, the sunlight dances on this weed’s papery thin, kite-like spend seed pods, making a connection, and saying thanks. Life is pure in the desert. Coordinates: 35.591401,-117.948918 (Google Maps/Earth)
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like. What do they make you think of?
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
