I’ve got a spot, a sunny spot with a great view, but it is very small. I am feeling pinched in this small hollow in the rock and I would like to grow bigger. So I call upon my weed power to turn this stone into soil! This is how I do my part to help the world evolve.
My roots grow slowly, finding small cracks and crevices. I make my way in incremental steps, fissure by fissure widening and cracking to accommodate my needs. The water seeps in and helps my tracks lengthen, so I can strengthen my hold on my rocky perch. My roots push to search for needed water and nutrients and with every gain I make, the rock crumbles to make room for me, a lowly grassy weed.
Others will come after me and follow my lead. They will put down roots where I left off and push farther than I did. Someday this rock will crack I promise you.
I know to never give up. I know to always find a way, and thus, I thrive.
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
