Two Working As One
Two Working As One

We work together, we weeds. Some see us as the unwanted ones, the undesirables, and so we struggle with feeling that we don’t quite measure up. As if we have something to prove we work and strive harder than those who are cultivated and feel entitled to their position. It is in our quiet moments, when we lean on each other for support, we feel the truth. We feel the strength in our resolve, in our dreams, in our daily efforts.

And so we grow. We spread. We seed. We propagate. We change the earth. We labor on, and we would choose no other way.

This Weed Image is dedicated to Rose, a friend from many many years ago, who, although I have not seen in decades, comments daily on my weed photos. She often sees things I missed, and thus she helps the weed inspiration spread. Today she shared with me a photo of two joined mushrooms bent in a pose that caught her eye. She saw the pair of mushrooms in New Hampshire – thousands of miles away from California on this very day. And today, the very same day, my two mushrooms above worked hard to catch my eye and continue to strengthen the thread of inspiration.

Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.

We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
