I stand tall and alone and I soak up the slanted rays of the setting sun. I say farewell to Summer and to this day of blessed sunshine. I say goodbye to blossoms fresh and seedlings tender and days of gold. I watch the sun go down and bid it adieu.
I say hello to Autumn. When the fall weather comes and brings with it the cold fast rain that soaks all to its core, when the frost comes and ices all the living things, when the days grow shorter and shorter, I will have more time to sleep and dream of spring.
Although I am still, there is a tingling deep inside me as I look forward to this season of dreams. I shall continue to soak up the sunlight preciously harbored by days that retreat in advance of the ever quicker encroaching night. I shall breathe in deeply and be cleansed by the refreshing air that cools as the days march on. And as the hours of sunlight diminish and thus grow more brilliant, I shall fortify myself to lie dormant for the long dreamless sleep of Winter so that I shall be prepared for the subsequent brilliant rebirth of Spring.
The wise weed says, “Do now what you can. Do not put it off until tomorrow, for tomorrow shall be shorter and full of distractions that can easily lead you down the wrong path. As you watch this sunset and see the clarity of the oncoming seasons, dig deep with your roots and hold fast to what you know is good and true.”
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
