Effort
Effort

I know someone who lives by the words “Last Call”.  Just the other day I asked her what that meant to her, and she explained that it was a motivational reminder that we only have one chance to do our best; that if we don’t act, the chances we are given may fall away; that a mountain that rises up before us can only be climbed if we try.

There is such beauty in effort, and grace in hard work. There is the shine of a beating heart in every drop of sweat created by labor. And when we struggle and persevere to climb to reach the peak of our goals, no matter how rocky the road or how steep the cliff, then the beauty of our efforts multiply and are mirrored in the world around us. We create a world made more rich and rewarding because we took the chance and tried hard to do our best.

My friend reminded me of this with her motto and when I opened my eyes with renewed realization I spied this ant climbing high upon the fiddle neck weed. His traveling shows that what is right in nature comes with effort. That, I feel deeply, is a beautiful thing!

We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.

Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
