Smaller than a pea and as perfect as a rose, I found this Scarlet Pimpernel flower when I was looking for something much larger. I looked for beauty and serenity. I sought peace and happiness. I searched for meaning and value. I scanned the horizon for a sign that good things were coming. What I nearly missed was the goodness almost touching me, for right alongside my shoe, the earth had offered up this tiny beacon of all of those things, and finally I saw.
Simple and sweet this flower perfectly mimics the rose, with its gently wrapped petals rising up to greet me with tender sweet sentiments. It is not lavish or extravagant. It is not heavily perfumed nor a centerpiece in the garden. It is a small thing, perfect for the wee folk, for children, and for those who look closely at their spot on the path near home to find true happiness.
Be like a child and exclaim with amazement the things at your feet. Be grateful for tender moments and glimpses of beauty. Treasure hugs and kisses. Remember loving glances and the smell of a your soul mate. Hold these things in your heart and they will keep you young and content.
