Windswept, dried out, sunbaked, spent. Like a ghost husk of its former self, this lookout grass weed still embodies the spirit of Robber’s Roost in the Mojave Desert. It’s just missing the gumption and the innards to keep on spotting stagecoaches loaded with gold. We haven’t seen many pass by lately. Hope his compatriots don’t shoot him in the back for not pulling his weight.
But in a different light…
To the lucky hiker who wandered onto the Robber’s Roost, the sunlight dances on this weed’s papery thin, kite-like, spent seed pods, making a connection, and saying thanks! Life is pure in the desert. The desert is beauty, newly discovered. Coordinates: 35.591401,-117.948918 (Google Maps/Earth)

We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be. Please come back again for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
Even better, look down at the world that teems with life and meaning. It is right at your feet!
