“Where did I put my keys?” “Where is that note?” “Am I forgetting something?” We have all been there, in that mental foggy spot, when things get busy and our hectic lives allow details to slip our minds. You’d think a weed would not have the same problem, but perhaps forgetfulness is a universal state designed to realign our senses! This weed leaf is full of green concentration, ready to take on the sunlight and make fuel, but there is something nagging at him, something just out of reach. What is it that he has forgotten?
Like a dear old auntie who ties twine round her fingers, or the grandma who clips a clothespin to her apron so that she’ll be reminded of an important “to do” should it slip her mind, this weed has a foxtail reminder adhered securely to its thorns. The foxtail sticks with the weed leaf and does not let go. But oh, if only we could figure out what it is a reminder for! We may be out of luck today, for one thing we know is that weeds don’t tell, for their mysterious allure is one of their many charms.
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
