Two beetles on a weed on a sunny afternoon. One looking very absorbed in his task, oblivious to anything around, and the other standing guard, the silent ninja type. Just what is really happening? If we get closer, we might be able to hear….
“I’ll be over here, down in the leafy area of this weed here, doing this bug thing that I like to do, and you, you friend, you be on the lookout, you let me know if anything, anyone is coming, like, you let me know if there is something I should see, or if I should stop, or turn around, or something, you’ll let me know. OkaY? Is that okay? Friend? Buggy buddy of mine? Is that okay?”
“Yup. Got it covered.”
Oh, goody, good good good. I’ll just go on down here and look for that thing, that treat, I think it was a treat, yes, I’m sure it was. I’ll just be here looking, and doing the thing I like to do. When I find it, I’ll bring it up so we can share, okay? Okay? Everything okay up there friend?”
“Yup. We’re good.”
“Okay, okay, okay. Wow, that is such a relief, friend, ‘cus I get so nervous, sometimes. I mean not like all the time of course, that would be silly, but sometimes, I get really nervous and I think I see things, like danger or something, but then maybe it’s not, or maybe it is and I can’t really tell. And I am just so happy that you are there, and you are so strong, and like brave, so that’s so awesomely great, buddy, right buddy?”
“I’m on it. Don’t worry.”
Two bug friends, one stoic, one silly. One strong, one flighty. Out on a weedy day adventure. They need each other and it sure feels good to take on the role that feels natural, and have the other in the role opposite their own. These two travelers may seem like they are reading from different scripts but they complement each other and make a great team. Even bug friends out on a weed adventure gotta lean on their friends to complete the whole picture.
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
