A Circle of Weeds

Do weeds mind the time? In this circle of weeds, the upthrusting life force of spring turns gracefully into the languid days of summer. Is it the first sunrise of summer, or the last sunset of spring? I don’t think weeds keep track of the seasons; their timing is internalized and governed by the clockworks that trigger sprouting, budding, flowering and seed dispersal. How divine to be in the flow of life and times and not have to work to consciously fit in and make the best of “it”, whatever time frame you happen to be in, even on those days when you can’t get into the groove.

We all have a right to grow, whether ye be weed or not. And we get a new chance every moment. As these weeds grow, they struggle against the confines of the fenced in area and their rooted state. They endure daily trials of being buffeted by the winds, scorched by the sun, and dried by drought. And then one day they find the sweet spot, the perfect fit – the struggle is their comfort zone. Having succeeded in figuring things out, they reach out to the sky to make a statement, “I belong here!” They assert their right to dance with nature, have a place in this world and in the cycle of unending seasons  Just like us. Thank you weeds!

Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.

We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
