Here’s Looking At You, Kid!

Open Gaze

Caught in a Weed’s Gaze

Free weed that I am, I turn to you and look. I watch you, curious about what you do, who you are, and what you dream of. I’d like to understand you, but the truth is hidden behind layers of affectations, decorations and deflections. Like a child I am hungry for knowledge and my eyes ache to soak up everything and learn from all vision.

Others may not look so directly. They may turn away, aware of the restrictions of manners and propriety. But I choose not to consider those limitations and so free myself from them. Does my gaze make you more honest? Does it make you uncomfortable? Do you fumble in your attempts to hide behind a screen or a gauzy layer of societies constraints? The costume you’ve put on, is that your real skin? Do you take it off at night and hang it up so it will be fresh to clothe yourself with in the morning?

Perhaps my gaze makes you more bold, and more free to act directly and with strength. When one is observed, they become a part of another person’s drama. They might be the star! So if I look upon you with directness, in order to discern your strengths and weaknesses, you might grow stronger!

The intense look of a weedling directed straight at you is a challenge and a compliment. You have become much more interesting since I first spied you! And this watching is turning into quite an adventure!

Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.

We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
