Treasure
Treasure

“Hello to you all”, I whisper, and I smile.

I am a delicate treasure, a weed flower quiet and shy, but I have my eyes wide open. I’ll gladly look you in the eye. Because you can see me, it means you have your eyes open as well!

Because I am small and humble, my face is usually only discovered by those who hike and wander with eyes trained to the ground or looking for a flash of color. My favorite faces are of course, the sky and the wind and the bees. If you find me, you will notice that I expand and bloom in the cool mornings and during the heat of the day I prefer to close up tight and become a mystery.

I will not be here forever, and that is part of my charm. So if you see me, you are lucky! And so am I.

I do not come in a fancy package. No one wraps me up with bows. I wilt if you try to take me home. So please, do not. Leave me here where I will thrive. Come visit me in the wilds of your neighborhoods and trails and parks. Keep your eyes open and ready for the tiniest bit of delicate beauty to transform your day.

I’m sure there must be a moment in your busy day when you can look for a weed to make you smile. I hope during that moment you’ll see me!

Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.

We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
