Root & Sky

I just had to do something about the weeds in my garden today! I’ve been too kind to the weeds lately, and soon I’ll want to plant tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini and herbs…so a’pulling I went! As you may have guessed, I find every aspect of weeds to be fascinating in design and utility, and the roots are no exception. When I’m weeding, I fight and do battle with the roots. I try to outwit the cunning things, as they hide in the dark clinging to depths that I cannot reach. I work at them, pulling this way, then another, a little dig here, a little dig there. But often the whole root still manages to elude me. Roots are actually quite camera shy, but I have a mission; I am on assignment; and so clicking away I went. While it is very satisfying to pull weed roots up, I did derive some pleasure from admiring these roots held up against a blue sky in the company of trees.

Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.

We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
