Three dandelion tufts reach gracefully towards their future, but they need just a few more hours before it is the right time for lift off. Some of their siblings have already left, so they know what they will need to do, and they’ve seen proof that the breeze will carry them up and away on currents of air that eddy and swirl towards unknown new destinations. But they are just not quite ready. There is some inner wisdom holding them back.
I remember a day long ago, when I was frozen with fright, unable to lift my feet from the diving board, high up above the water. I wanted to take the thrilling and graceful leap from the platform, but my feet would not come unglued. They held me there firmly. My body was straining towards the open air and the water below, but I could not budge.
It took me a while, but I learned. And these little darling dandelion tufts will soon be off, floating away to grant someone’s wish. They are poised and almost ready. There are some days when the best thing to do is wait. It takes courage and strength to do so. All in good time.
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.
