I look up at the sky, so large above me, and I long to simply “be” today. I’d like to quiet my mind and stop the endless cycle of thoughts that threaten to drown my soft inner core. I’d like to return to the delight and optimism that overflowed from my every idea as a child. Oh, the simpler days of youth!
And then I see this delicate weed flower. It catches my eye and draws me in with its charm. I bend close and find it has an elusive scent, so faint that you might think you are imagining it, or that perhaps you alone are able to smell it. Gentle open faced flower, you offer yourself to the world, and in your fragility you are quite strong. You have no need for camouflage or thorns, or sticky sap to keep danger at bay. As I look deep into your soft simple petals and try to glimpse your fresh center, a door is opened.
Now I am daydreaming of quiet moments with soft scents that play on the breeze. I am remembering the soft kisses that woke me up, the wind chimes that gently heralded the morning and the sunbeams in my room. Quiet and loving, gentle and soft. Thank you weed flower, for helping me to remember and return to that simple place of bliss.
I hope your day has the joys of simplicity in it. Thank you for visiting!
Please come back tomorrow for a new “Weed Image of the Day” and let me know which ones you like.
We and our weeds are so much more than what we first appear to be.

the photo was already great, but your words really drew me in … I’m in a weird mood this evening … satisfied and calm, but tinges of discomfort around the edges … it was nice to get lost in the “simple place of bliss” for a few moments. I actually allowed your words to take me there, and was surprised to feel the discomfort fade away. Nice post.
